Mediahuis NL & DPG Media stop newspaper delivery on Vlieland and Schiermonnikoog

DPG Media and Mediahuis Nederland will stop delivering printed newspapers on Vlieland and Schiermonnikoog as of 1 July 2026. Due to changes in PostNL’s services, same-day newspaper delivery will no longer be possible.

The decision affects titles including de Volkskrant, AD, Trouw, NRC, De Telegraaf, Leeuwarder Courant and Dagblad van het Noorden. Newspaper sales points on both islands will also disappear.

Subscribers have been informed and will be offered the option to switch to a digital subscription. Both DPG Media and Mediahuis are offering three months of free digital access.

According to Mediahuis, several alternatives were explored, but no future-proof solution for newspaper delivery on the two smallest Wadden Islands could be found.
