Commercial radio licenses auctioned

Vergunningen voor commerciële radio geveild

Commercial radio station licenses have been auctioned again after 20 years. Talpa, DPG Media, Mediahuis, BNR and newcomer Financial News Radio have received licenses to broadcast nationwide on FM frequencies until 2035. Stations SLAM! and Sublime will disappear from FM. The five winning companies divide nine nationwide packages among themselves. Talpa retains its three radio licenses and continues with Radio 538, Radio 10 and Sky Radio. DPG Media buys two frequencies and comes up with a new radio brand alongside Qmusic. SLAM! and Sublime will become digital radio stations. Financial News Radio, a newcomer, replaces Sublime and will become a (news) station. The new channel format will take effect from next September 1 and run through 2035.
