Short introduction
- What gives you energy, at work or outside of work?
- What gives me energy is knowing that every day, we teach the world a little bit about history.
- What are you most proud of? (professionally or personally)?
- That we’ve taken the newspaper in a new direction, giving it a more contemporary look, attracting a younger audience, making the advertising opportunities more appealing, while it remains a very popular newspaper.
- Which development within media, marketing or communication are you currently following with particular interest?
- The combination of written content and developments in AI. I believe they can only strengthen each other.
- What do few people know about you?
- That, deep down, I’m not as confident as I come across.
- Which app do you use more often than you would like to admit?
- The weather app, always hoping for a bit of sunshine.
- If you had a time machine, which period or event would you travel to, and why?
- Not a single moment. I live in the present and don’t look back. Every era and every event has something beautiful about it, a consequence and a story. You shouldn’t want to change that.
Remco's recommendations
- Which podcast, newsletter, series or book would you currently recommend?
- Lupin, Netflix
- If you could give one piece of advice to young media professionals, what would it be?
- Keep developing yourself. Don’t focus too much on what others are doing, and don’t see them as competition. If you do see competition, it may reveal an insecurity in yourself. And that’s okay—the other person may simply be better at one thing, while you’re better at something else.
Last but not least
- Who would you nominate for a future edition of ‘Kennismaken met…’?
- I wouldn’t dare say… I’ll leave that one up to you
- What is your favorite quote?
- Making mistakes is essential. Ideally, I make a mistake every day, simply because it helps me learn. Without mistakes, you can’t learn.
